Thursday 6th September 2007 : First meeting of term
|
Thursday 13th September 2007 : Paper pioneering
Lettie
divided us into two teams and gave us our challenge for the evening.
She handed out bundles of newspaper and we were to build paper towers
as high as we could, preferably to touch the ceiling. The picture shows
the winners in the background; their tower did indeed reach the
ceiling. The other team, in the foreground, are showing horror at the
impending disaster that beset their structure. The meeting finished
with a further discussion of the programme for the term.

Thursday 27th September 2007 : Annual review
Our
fifth annual review took the standard form with Alan giving us a brief
review of the
year's activities and Martin presenting the accounts. Martin complained
for the fifth time in five years that Alan got all the exciting bits. All
members and guests
were then divided into teams by Martin's and we had to listen to a tune
and then send one member of the team to stand in a spot representing
whether the music was from the sixties, seventies, eighties or
nineties. We finished with the usual refreshments and chat.
Thursday 4th October 2007 : Running wide games
Martin
ran four quick wide games with the aim of indicating the range of games
that could be run for the Scout Troops. We then had a camp fire with
marshmallows on sticks.
Thursday 11th October 2007 : ‘Beer mat night’
What did we do this evening?!! Alan and Lettie were away.
Thursday 25th October 2007 : Indoor climbing
Thursday 1st November 2007 : Faith Group Award
Saturday 10th November 2007 : Narrow boating
We
met at the Fountainbridge canal basin and soon found the narrow boat.
Alan had to run back to his car to get his camera and the cash to pay
for the trip! We were given a safety briefing and then told that the
boat was ours for the morning! We sailed from the basin through
Fountainbridge and Polwarth, each of us having a go at helming the
boat. The drizzle and wind made it more preferable to be with the
landlubbers down below below below. Thanks to Reunion for givng us this
trip.
Friday 16th November 2007 : Joint Scout wide game
[to be completed]
Thursday 22nd November 2007 : Visit to the Gang Show
Instead of the visit, we did something else!
